OUR FUTURE, OUR PATHWAY: The NATSIEC Strategic Plan 2025-2029

News, Resources

The National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Corporation (NATSIEC) is proud to launch Our Future, Our Pathway, our first Strategic Plan.

This plan builds on decades of advocacy by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to ensure our voices are not only heard, but centred in education and training systems. It outlines how we will work with communities across the country to forefront community leadership, grow community control and embed self-determination in all areas of education.

Our Vision
A culturally safe, inclusive education system where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people shape their own pathways to self-determined success across all levels of lifelong learning.

Our Purpose
To be the united national voice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education and training. We work to empower our communities to lead, influence national policy and ensure that our knowledge, aspirations and perspectives are reflected across all systems and sectors.

What We’re Working Towards
We have five strategic objectives:

  1. Community-led solutions and empowerment
We support the growth and strength of Indigenous Education Consultative Bodies in every state and territory, because sustainable change must come from community.
  2. Lifelong learning and cultural safety
We advocate for education systems that affirm identity and culture, and support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people at every stage of their learning journey.
  3. Data-driven accountability and impact
We push for systems that are transparent, grounded in evidence and responsive to the lived experiences of our people.
  4. Policy leadership and advocacy
We bring the priorities of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities into national policy and work to ensure governments act in partnership and with accountability.
  5. Organisational growth and sustainability
We are building a strong, independent organisation with deep roots in community and the relationships and governance to lead this work long term.

This work is not about inclusion. It is about ensuring that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are leading education decisions that affect our lives, our communities and our futures.
