Transforming Early Learning Access for First Nations Children

Media Release

The National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Corporation (NATSIEC) acknowledges the potential of the Australian Government’s reforms to early childhood education and care (ECEC), including the removal of the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) activity test for First Nations children. From January 2026, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children could access up to 100 hours of subsidised early learning per fortnight, a move that addresses long-standing barriers to access for First Nations families.
